Sandra Salaam

On June 29, 1954, Allah blessed us with an angel. Sandra aka “Nenny” Salaam, born Sandra Minitee, in Newark, NJ was the sixth of ten children. Sandra was united in marriage by Imam Hussain Shabazz with Abdul H. Salaam and to this union six children, eleven grandchildren and one great grandson were born. Her life was unforgettably sweet and her arms were always open. Although Sandra struggled through many trials and tribulations, she continued on as a strong dignified woman. She was known as a fighter due to her strength and poise. Sandra dedicated her life to her family, especially her children and Sandra Salaam will truly be missed by many. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Charles Minitee and mother Annie Will Brown-Minitee and siblings Josephine, Earl, Charles, Darlene Minitee and Beatrice McCall. She leaves to cherish her memory devoted and loving husband, Abdul Hakeem Salaam, children; Ibn Abdul Hakeem, Vernice Luticia, Sarone Elaine, Shahid Malik, Husain Fareed Salaam and Zakiyyah Bhairah Salaam-Jones, daughter-in-law, Angelica Salaam and son-in-law, Danny Thomas Jones; three sisters; Henrietta Matthews and Sally and Joyce Minitee; one brother, Ricky Minitee; grandchildren Amirah, Nadir, Alaisha, Sharif, Ahmad, Aisha, Zanae, Zyaisa, Alshadee, Zanielle and Quaheed; great grandson Kysir Casmir and two loving pets Papa & Smoke; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
