Joyce F Spencer

On Wednesday August 31, the Lord reclaimed Joyce Spencer to eternal rest. She was born to the late John and Ruth Ford. She was married to the late Blufort Spencer. Mrs Spencer earned an undergraduate degree in education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She worked in children’s day care for a number of years. She taught in the King William County School System. She was a member of First Union Baptist Church, Bethany Baptist Church(both in Richmond) and Mount Olive Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. Mrs Spencer loved bringing joy, encouraging others and especially serving the Lord. Fond memories of her are cherished by four daughters; Audrey Spencer Horsley(Smiley), Effie Spencer Tucker(Donald), Paula Spencer and Barbara Spencer; three sons; Blufort Spencer, Larry Spencer and John Spencer(Lauretta); one step son, Ronald Spencer(Corlis); 26 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; two brothers, John Ford(Gail) and William Ford; three aunts; Mable Cunningham, Bessie Shelton and Mildred Green; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and friends, among them a devoted Hugh Smith and the late John White. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where funeral services will be held Friday at 1PM. Rev. Clyde W. Ellis Jr. off. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the funeral home 12:45PM friday.
