Matthew Alexander Franklin

Departed this life October 8, 2011. Matthew A. Franklin Sr. of Richmond. He was a member King David Lodge #28(Prince Hall Affiliated). He is preceded in death by a son, Matthew Alexander Franklin Jr. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Franklin; one daughter, Jeanne Franklin; one son, David Franklin; one step daughter, Brenda Wood Johnson; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five sisters; Calperta Cann, Lena Wells, Louise Ratliff, Juanita Matthews, and Gwendolyn Hemphill; three brothers; James Franklin, John Wesley Franklin and Rev. David Franklin; a host of nieces, among them Drucilla Clark, nephews and cousins; two daughters-in-law, Sonja and Karen Franklin; two sisters-in-law, Janie and Gaynelle Franklin; three brothers-in-law, Arthur Wells, George Matthews and Charles Victor and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday 11AM at Third Street Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 614 N. Third Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Godfrey Patterson(pastor) off. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Friday.
