Samuel Thompson

Departed this life July 30, 2012. Dr. Samuel Thompson of Richmond. He retired from the University of Massachussetts-Worcester as the Associate Provost of University of Massachussetts Medical School. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Lambda Chapter as well as the U. S. Chess Federation. He is survived by his wife, Jean Deane Thompson; one daughter, Carletta Thompson Williams; one son, Gregory Thompson; four grandchildren; Joseph and Jordan Thompson and Wayne II and Jonathan Williams; two sisters, Jean Thompson Williams and Thelma Thompson Perry; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one daughter-in-law, Tina Thompson and one son-in -law, Wayne Williams; one sister-in-law, Gladys Brooks; one brother -in-law, Willie Williams and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Monday 1PM at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Earl Brown(pastor) off. Interment private. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45PM Monday.
