Departed this life April 13, 2013. Jerry Cooper, age 67, of Richmond. He retired as an educator from Richmond Public Schools after 32 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Cooper; one daughter, Erika Ruffin; one son, Jerry A. Cooper Sr.; four grandchildren; Justin Jr., Jayson, & Joshua Ruffin and Jerry A. Cooper Jr.; three sisters; Ernestine Gilliam, Nellie Hairston and Carolyn Chambers; five brothers; Clarence, Roy, Tom, Robert and Phillip Jr Cooper; one aunt, Rosetta Moore; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one daughter-in-law, Keshonna Cooper; one son-in-law, Justin Ruffin Sr.; eight sisters-in-law; Dianne Jones, Janice White and Rev. Arlene, Katherine, Brenda T., Brenda B., Jean, and Patricia Cooper; three brothers-in-law; Elbert Jr. & Garrett Ray Bonds and Stewart Chambers and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11AM at St. James Baptist Church, 2169 New Market Road where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Kevin Sykes(pastor) off. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Thursday.
