Samuel L. Batchelor

Departed this life July 22, 2013. Samuel L. Batchelor, age 77, of Richmond. He retired from Phillip Morris after 37 years of service. He was a staff member of Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Batchelor; two sisters, Ruth Mae Luke and Lena Boddie; two brothers, Rev. Asbury Batchelor and Raymond Batchelor; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Hicks and Geraldine, Nellie & Betty Batchelor; two brothers-in-law, Felix & Carl Samuels; and other relatives and friends, among them three god children; Doncha & Chana Lewis and Akhenaton Blye. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30PM Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 noon at Hood Temple A. M. E. Zion Church, 16 W. Clay Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Tony D. Henderson(pastor) off. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 11:45AM Saturday.
