Benjamin Garfield Mitchell

Departed this life August 4, 2013. Benjamin G. Mitchell Sr. of Richmond. He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Louise Mitchell, one daughter, Patricia Mitchell White and one grandson, Michael R. Mitchell. He is survived by three sons;Benjamin G. Mitchell Jr., Lawrence C. Mitchell and Michael Q. Mitchell; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Neva Sanders and Ophelia Cockrell; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; three daughters-in-law; Olympia, Deitra and Frances Mitchell; two sisters-in-law, Vernelle Curry and Myrtle Ricks and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11AM at Second Baptist Church, 1400 Idlewood Avenue where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. James Harris (pastor) off. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Saturday. The family would like to thank the staff of Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center (Shenandoah Unit) for their kindness during Mr. Mitchell’s stay.
