John Edward Green

Departed this life September 5, 2013. John Edward “Sarge” Green, age 100, of Richmond. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Green. He is survived by four daughters; Louise Brown, Marsha Reed, Lila Green-Watkins and Ada Robinson-Darden; three sons; Malcolm, Richard and Wayne Green; 24 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two daughters-in-law, Ines and Francisca Green; three sons-in-law; Moses Reed, Randall Darden and William Brown; one sister-in-law, Florence Flournoy; three brothers-in-law; Calvin Robinson, Arthur Flournoy and James Adkins; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 11AM thursday at Riverview Baptist Church, 2604 Idlewood Avenue where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. Stephen Hewlett(pastor) off. Interment City Point National Cemetery in Hopewell, Virginia. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Thursday.
