Othel Nathaniel Sparks Jr.

Sparks, Departed this life May 11, 2008. Othel N. Sparks Jr. of Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Shirley H. Sparks; four sons, Melvin Sr.(Madeline), Stevie, Gregory M.(Valerie M.), and Christopher O.(Monica) Sparks; eight grandchildren, Melvin(Angela) and Damon Sparks, Karon Hayes, Mikal, Rihana, Chelsea, Noel and Asia Sparks; four great grandchildren; four step children, Herman Givens(Joylynn), Kathalene Meekins,(James), Preston Givens(Teresa), and Tracy Givens; a host of cousins; one sister-in-law, Florence Pretlow; and other relatives and friends. He was a member of Silver Trowel Lodge #267(Prince Hall Affiliated) and the Astoria Beneficial Club. He was a retired letter carrier of 32 years. He was chairman of the board of directors of the Richmond Postal Credit Union for sixteen years. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be Saturday 1P.M. at Woodville Presbyterian Church, 1728 N. 28th Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior funeral time. Rev. Jerome Bennett(pastor) off. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45P.M. Saturday.
