Downing, Departed this life May 10, 2008. Mrs. Dorothy(Mama Dot) Downing of Richmond. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Sharlene Henderson. She is survived by one daughter, Joan Alford; one son, Raymond Hall; 14 grandchildren; __ great grandchildren; __ great great grandchildren; two step sisters Carolyn Ford and Lucille Jack; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two sons-in-law, Lionel Alford and Richard Henderson Sr.; and many other relatives and friends. She retired from Thalhimers after 40 years of service. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Friday 12 noon at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 3200 East Broad Street, where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Steven Howard(pastor) off. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 11:45A.M. Friday.
