Willis Tompkins

Departed this life February 4, 2014. Willis Tompkins, age 73, of Richmond. He is survived by a devoted companion, Irene Connor; one daughter, Tonya Tompkins-Howard; three grandchildren; Terez and Jasmine Tompkins and Ivan Howard; his mother, Myrtle Atkins; two sisters, Jacqueline Lewis and Geraldine Thompson; three brothers; Robert, Barry and Larry Poindexter; one step brother, Sandy Atkins; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; three sisters-in-law, Clarissa & Monique Poindexter and Joanne Atkins; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Lewis and Gus Thompson; and other relatives and friends, among them Freddie Jones. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 3 to 4pm Sunday. Funeral services will be held Monday 1PM at Sharon Baptist Church, 22 E. Leigh Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Paul Coles(pastor) off. Interment Maury Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45pm Monday.
