Esther L. Thornton

Departed this life February 26, 2014. Mrs. Esther R. Thornton, age 86, of Richmond. She is preceded in death her husband, Talley “Gus” Thornton Jr. She is survived by three daughters; Loris Thornton, Geraldine Thornton and Pamela Smith; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Cowdery; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one son-in-law, Van L. Smith Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hutchenson and Mildred Lawrence; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Monday 12 noon at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 800 E. Grace Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral. Father Robert Brownell(pastor) off. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 11:45AM Monday.
