Rev. Dr. Andrew J. Jackson Sr.

Transitioned from labor to reward early in the morning of September 9, 2014. Rev. Dr. Andrew Jesse Jackson Sr., age 82, of Richmond. He served as pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, for 37 years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Gresham Jackson. He is survived by six children; Joan Williams(Glenn), Ruth Braxton, Loretta Jackson, Rev. Andrew “Pete” Jackson Jr.(LaMyra), Minister Lawana Simpson(Samuel) and Kathy Jenkins(Trent); fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; six sisters- in-law; four brothers-in-law and other relatives and friends among them three god children, Kayla Young, Jasmine Moore and Todd Harvey. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30PM Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:30am at Trinity Baptist Church, 2811 Fendall Avenue where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. A. Lincoln James(pastor) off. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 11:15am Saturday.
