Departed this life September 15, 2014. James “Bootney” Motley, age 72, of Richmond. He was the first African American plumber inspector for the City of Richmond. He is preceded in death by his son, Rodney Motley. He is survived by his wife, Carol Motley; three daughters; Wanda Peed, Tonia Motley and Cheryl Johnson; one son, Wayne Motley; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers; Herman, William Jr. and Jerome Motley; one aunt; two uncles; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one daughter-in-law, Frances Motley; one son-in-law Ramel Peed; two devoted sisters- in-law, Annie and Cora Motley; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11AM at Greater Refuge Church, 2210 Carter Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Apostle Samuel Peters Sr.(pastor) off. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Thursday.
