Bernard L. Jones Sr.

Departed this life January 22, 2015. Bernard L. Jones Sr., age 94, of Richmond. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lozalia Banks Jones. He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Badiyyah(Bernardine) Waajid and Bernardette Howard; one son, Bernard L. Jones Jr.; two grand daughters, Kimberly Hines and Raqiyah Waajid; one great grand daughter, Inayah O’neil; one sister, Deacon Elsie Mitchell; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; daughter-in-law, Addie Jones; two sons-in-law, Tariq Waajid and Joseph Howard, Esquire; one sister-in-law, Louise Jones; one brother-in-law, Leonardo Chappell; and other relatives and friends among them Michael Zurenko. He was a member of the Astoria Beneficial Club for 53 years where he received such honors as President(1975-1976) and Astorian of the Century. Memorial services will be held Friday 1pm at St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church, 2900 Hanes Avenue. The Very Rev. Phoebe Roaf(rector), The Rev. Robert G. Hetherington off.
