Departed this life August 15, 2015. Deacon Alfonzo Joyner Sr, age 84, of Richmond. He was a member of the Deacon’s Conference of Richmond and Vicinity and also the Oddfellows Friendship 3846 G.U.O.O.F. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a retiree of the Phillip Morris Tobacco Company. After retirement he served on the staff of Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Joyner; one daughter, Wanda Gray Joyner; two sons, Alfonzo Joyner Jr. and Barry Joyner; three grandchildren; Tiffany & Senora Joyner and Barry Joyner II; one great granddaughter, Dakota Jones; two sisters, Maydell Parks and Shirley Roberts; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two daughters-in-law, Jean and Tanya Joyner; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Hickman, Mildred and Mary Hutcheson; one brother-in-law, Joseph Parks and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Friday 11AM at Sixth Baptist Church, 400 So. Addison Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. Yvonne Bibbs(pastor) off. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Friday.
