Departed this life September 30, 2015. Howard C. Smith Sr. of Richmond. He is preceded in death by Pearline Smith and one son, Howard C. Smith Jr. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette B. Smith; one daughter, Lucinda Johnson; three sons; Carl, Mark and Gerard(Alice) Smith; 17 grandchildren; a host of great and great great grandchildren; nine step children; a host of nieces nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30pm Monday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 12 noon at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Earl Brown(pastor) off. Interment private. Family and friends assemble at the church 11:45AM Tuesday.
