Sylvia Tatem Spottswood

SPOTTSWOOD Mrs. Sylvia Louise Tatem Spottswood of Richmond. She departed this life on May 28, 2009. A retired investigator of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, DC and, more recently, owner of STS Originals card and gift shop in Richmond, VA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Stephen Paul Spottswood. She is survived by six children: Dr. Stephanie Spottswood, Stephen Paul Spottswood, Jr., Sheila Spottswood, Symra Spottswood, Simon Gill Spottswood, and Stanley Alexander Spottswood; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters, Hyacinthe “Heidi” Napper and Patricia “Butch” Maurice; a brother, Earl A. Tatem; and a host of other family and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 12 noon at Hood Temple A.M. E. Zion Church, 16 W. Clay Street where the family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Dr. Kevin W. McGill, Sr., (Pastor) officiating and Elder Stanley Spottswood delivering the Eulogy. The interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
