Departed this life July 22, 2016. Walter C. “Sonny” Smith, age 85, of Richmond. He is preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Smith. He is survived by one daughter, Venda Richardson; two grandchildren, Talven and Jonathan Pearsell; three great grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Ford; two brothers, James and Gerald Smith; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters-in-law, Grace and Jessie Smith; one brother-in-law, Gerald Ford and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 1PM at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Earl Brown(pastor) off. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45PM Wednesday.
