Departed this life July 27, 2016. Calvin C. Cheeks Jr., age 56, of Richmond. He retired from the Richmond City Police Department after 22 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Joann Cheeks; four daughters; Shantell Cox, Ashley and Kimberly Cheeks & Kelly Goode; one son, Shawn Dandridge; 11 grandchildren; his father, Calvin Cheeks Sr.; one sister, Constance Fortune; seven aunts; two uncles; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two sons-in-law, Donnie J. Cox and Antwan Goode; father-in-law, Milton McLean; grandmother-in-law, Alice Vaughan; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 4PM. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday at First Union Baptist Church, 6144 Derwent Road where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Dr. William Whitaker II(pastor) off. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 11:45AM Monday.
