John "Red John" Tyler

John "Red John" Tyler, age 89, of Richmond, departed this life March 10, 2017. He is preceded in death by his wife Florence V. Tyler and one daughter, Emma A. Tyler. He is survived by one daughter, Mary L. Thomas (Alvin); two grandchildren, Cherie Taylor and Alvina Thomas; two great grandchildren, Jaelin Pierce and Jayden Taylor; a host of cousins; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Clarke and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins, Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday,1 p.m. at Quioccasin Baptist Church, 9011 Quioccasin Road where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. Andrew M. Mosely, Jr., officiating. Interment, Quioccasin Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45 p.m. Friday.
