On September 7, 2009, our Heavenly Father called Alvin Berkley Epps Sr., age 83, to eternal rest. He was born to the late Ryland C. and Estelle B. Epps. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Hundley, Walter and Hilton Epps.
He was the the first African-American magistrate in the city of Richmond. He is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Esteletta Epps; three daughters; Esteletta Epps Davis, Estelle Allen(Marvin Sr.), and Etta Plummer(Andre Sr.), three sons; Alvin Jr.(Linda), Ryland C. and Hilton E.(Deborah) Epps; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters; Sarah Jenkins, Doris Marquess and Josephine Furman(Livingston); one brother, William Clinton Epps(Melba); a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30PM on Friday. Homegoing services will be held Saturday 12 noon at Sixth Baptist Church, 400 S. Addison Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral. Dr. Yvonne Bibbs(pastor) off. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family, friends and organizations assemble at the church 11:45AM Saturday.
