Gayel was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who spent her life dedicated to helping others and doing God’s work. Gayel departed this life July 22, 2017. Mrs. Gayel Scarborough Kemp, age 72, of Richmond. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Larry Kemp; two daughters, Jennifer N. Wood and Alvenia Scarborough-Edwards(Calvin); one son, Alvin Scarborough Jr.(Avis); six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Jennifer T. Young and Tovelta Ross(Eugene); two aunts, Mary E. Parker and Rev. Dr. Celestine Reid(Allen); a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters-in-law; Lelia K. Hunter, Annette K. Carter, and Adean K. Cross; brothers-in-law, Robert S. Kemp and Richmon A. Kemp, and other relatives and friends…among them a devoted Lolita Moses. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday at Third Street Bethel A. M. E. Church, 614 N. Third Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Reuben Boyd(pastor) eulogy. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Saturday. Although we gather to celebrate her homecoming, Gayel will be sorely missed by all.
