Clyde Ray Jones

April 16, 1931 — December 9, 2010

Clyde Ray Jones departed this life on December 9, 2010 to answer the call of Almighty God to his heavenly home. Clyde was born in Blackstone, Virginia to the late Bessie and Harvey Jones. He was educated through Nottoway Public Schools. He served in the United States Marines and was a veteran of the Korean War. Worked over 40 years at the Stanley Toy and Novelty Company until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Harvey Jones. He is survived by 3 sisters - Helen Stubbs, (Jimmy), Ann Davenport (Fred) and Shirley Croslin (John); 2 brothers - Frank (Paulean) and William Jones; 2 step-sons, Charles (Dora) and Rickey Newman (Macy); 6 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren; 2 devoted nephews, Archer Collier, Jr and Harvey Collier (Dawne); sister and brothers-in-law - Lucille Payne (William), Jack Harvey ( Mary), Robert Harvey (Catherine), Jessie Harvey (Etta), Bessie Harvey, Irma Harvey, Pat Harvey; a devoted friend, Helen Johnson and family, a host of other beloved relatives and friends. Clyde served as treasurer for over twenty years at Riverview Baptist Church. Also served on trustee board and Joseph Golden Usher Board. He was a past master of Commonwealth Lodge #81 (Prince Hall Affiliated). Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins, Jr. Funeral Home at 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held at Riverview Baptist Church 2600 Idlewood Avenue on Wednessday 12 noon, where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral. Dr. Stephen Hewett officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family, friends and organizations will assemble at the church at 11:45am Wednesday.
