Benjamin Alston Jr.

Departed this life June 28, 2019.  Benjamin Alston Jr., age 82, of Richmond.  He was a retired Richmond City Police detective.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Claudette Alston.  He is survived by one daughter, Crystal L.  Alston-Bayton;  one son, Benjamin A.  Alston(Carolyn);  three grandchildren, Amber Bayton, and Tori & Miles Alston;  one sister, Ruth Dennis-Phillips;  two brothers, Calvin Alston(Carolyn) and Leo Dennis;  a host of nieces, nephews and cousins;  three sisters-in-law, Lucille Alston, Shelia Richardson and Valerie Williams;  two brothers-in-law, Dr.  Joseph Russell and Dalton Miles and other relatives and friends.  Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr.  Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday 1PM at Riverview Baptist Church, 2604 Idlewood Avenue where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time.  Dr.  Stephen Hewlett(pastor) off.  Interment Riverview Cemetery.  Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45PM Wednesday.
