Berta Jenkins

Survivors include her son, Walter F. Jenkins, Jr.(Saundra); grandchildren, Terri (Nikki), Chauncey and Kamille; 3 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Scipio (Hattie) of Marietta, GA; a host of nieces and nephews, most beloved Cal Mann (Karl), Roschelle Kilgore (Shiron) and Jody Scipio; her devoted friends Betty Cassells and Betty Jones. 

A woman of faith, Berta led a life of service and love by spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through her daily actions. She gave a listening ear to all around her and welcomed many friends to her home throughout the years. She enjoyed her daily scripture reading and devotions followed by weekly conversations with her younger brother,  Ernest.  Berta was cherished as a warm soul with whom many came to confide in. She was known also for dressing the hair of the neighborhood ladies and babysitting many godchildren and the children of friends.  Berta was extraordinary in the kitchen making her Sunday dinners special with her praised macaroni and cheese.

Berta will be especially remembered for her humble spirit, genuine hugs and hospitality.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Friday, February 10, 2023, 5:00 pm at Joseph Jenkins Funeral Home.
