Mr. Calvin Coolidge Cheeks Sr. of South Boston,VA departed this life February 2, 2021 at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond Va. Calvin was the second oldest of eight children. He was born to the late Roy Cheek and Elizabeth Jordan Cheek. He is preceded in death by his brothers Elijah Cheek, Marshall Cheek (wife Lula), Jasper Cheek, sister Elsie Harrison, his late wife Josephine Brandon Cheeks and in-laws (Richard, Sallie Belle, Royal, Lucy, Annie Mae, Curtis, Helen, John, William, Nancy), daughter Constance Fortune and son Calvin Coolidge Cheeks Jr.
Calvin served in the United States Army as a Mess Sergeant/Cook in 1943 during WWII before being honorably discharged. He worked for A & P Stores in New Jersey before retiring after twenty-three years.
Calvin is survived by his brother Charles Cheek Sr. of South Boston, VA, sisters Alma Powell of Martinsville, VA, Edna Duncan (husband Norman) of Passaic, NJ, granddaughters Ashley Cheeks of Richmond, VA, Kimberly Cheeks-Burleigh (husband Jessie) of Richmond, VA and Kelly Cheeks-Goode of Richmond, VA, ten great-grandchildren Kristaffer Bailey, JaKhaia Massey, Anija Lemon, Jayhari Burleigh, Jordan Adams, Jahremiah Burleigh, Sariah Burleigh, Amyrah Goode, Aalisha Goode, and Ayanna Goode all of Richmond, VA, a devoted nephew Eugene Cheek (wife Marta) of Richmond, VA, a devoted niece Gwen Hedgepeth (husband Kelly) of Richmond, VA and a host of other nieces and nephews.
