Denise Jones

Denise Lewis Jones of Henrico, VA departed this life on November 9, 2021, at age 63. She was born April 12, 1958, in Richmond, Virginia to Bernice Lewis Henley. She was preceded in death by her father, William Sampson. Denise was the oldest of seven children and she graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1976. She was preceded in death by her loving great grandparents who raised her, Ernest and Lucy Fleming. On December 29, 1979, she married her loving husband of 42 ½ years Dwayne Sheldon Jones, Sr who preceded her in death. They would later share two beautiful devoted daughters and one son. Denise worked in the administrative field and restaurant business for a few years. Her most important job was being a stay-at-home mother for her children. Later in life, she became a devoted caregiver to her husband. She was an intelligent woman who was very detail-oriented. Denise enjoyed journaling, and writing poetry; as English was her favorite subject in school. Denise was reserved but had an easygoing personality and got along with anybody she met. She also had a smile that would light up any room, with her favorite color lipstick, red, and had a great sense of humor who often kept her family in laughter. Denise found her most joy in spending time with her daughters and three grandsons. One of her favorite past times was enjoying a Captain D’s meal with her daughters or shopping. She loved listening to music, decorating her home and vehicles, and coordinating her outfits with matching accessories! Denise enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her famous rice pudding! Denise loved her cats and brought many pets into the family over the years; she leaves behind her beloved tabby, OJ. She was preceded in death by her sister Regina Henley and brother Lloyd Henley. She leaves to cherish precious memories of two daughters Larita D. Jones and Erica Threadgill; one son Dwayne S. Jones, Jr. (D.J.); three grandsons Jonah Threadgill, Ezra Threadgill and Chalen D. Burns; her mother Bernice Henley; two sisters Francine Thomas and Loreal Johnson, two brothers Ray (Dawn) and V. Lamont Henley; two sisters-in-laws Wanda M. Bland, and D. Renee Munford (Michael); two brother in-laws Lyndon L. (Linda) and Granville I. Jones III (Donna) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
