Dorothy Mae DeWitt

Mrs. Dorothy Mae DeWitt, age 86, was born in Darlington, S.C, on July 13, 1938, to Bosie and Ella Moses. She departed this life on August 16, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel DeWitt, four daughters, Doris Moore, Patricia, Willistine and Carlisa DeWitt, and two sons, Calvin & Karl DeWitt.   Dorothy loved cooking and feeding people every day. She also ran a Day Care Center at her home in the 90's. She loved her church family as well as the Missionary Circles that she was in. She is survived by her three loving children, two sons, Marvin (Theresa), and Morris DeWitt; one daughter, Christine DeWitt; one sister, Lila Montgomery; one sister-in-law, Mary DeWitt; one brother-in-law, Asbury DeWitt; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one devoted neighbor, Bettsie Harvey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm, Friday August 23rd at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary St, Richmond, Va. Family and friends assemble at the church at 12:45pm on Friday.
