Deaconess Dorothy W. Jones, 89, of Richmond, Virginia passed away on November 30, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Earl Jones; her parents, Crawley and Rosa Woodley, four brothers, Crawley Woodley Jr., George Woodley, Will Woodley and King Woodley and one sister, Eliza Malone. She is survived by two sons, Waverly L. Jones(Mary) and Marvin S. Jones(Kathy); two grandchildren, Sosanya M. Jones. and Christoper A. Jones Sr.; three great grandchildren, Amari B. Jones, Nadia C. Jones And Christopher A. Jones Jr.; three brothers- in-law, Rev. Dr. Arthur M. Jones (Mary) and Frank Jones Jr.(Mary) and James Malone; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was born in Amelia, Virginia and graduated from Russell Grove High School. She moved to Richmond and worked for the Richmond Public School System for many years as a cafeteria worker and cook. She left the school system and became a stocker for Miller & Rhoads Department Store where she remained for 30 years. Dorothy was baptized at an early age at Branches Run Baptist Church in Amelia, Virginia. When she moved to Richmond, she joined the Mosby Memorial Baptist Church where she served as Deaconess, sang in the choir and was active in the Missionary Ministry. Later, She and Earl left Mosby and joined Fifth Baptist Church. At Fifth Baptist Baptist, Dorothy served as a Deaconess(Past President and Historian), sang in the choir and was active in Fantastic Seniors Ministry, serving as the Ministry's Historian. Dorothy was also active in the Women’s Auxiliary of the Virginia State Baptist Deacon’s Conference serving as the Auxiliary’s Treasurer and served as the Financial Secretary of the Women’s Auxiliary for the Deacon’s Conference of Richmond and Vicinity. Dorothy also loved to cook. During the Christmas holiday season, orders for her fruit cakes kept her busy and some of her best recipes are now being cooked by her sons and grand children. Her remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 7, 2017 at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary Street at 12 Noon. Dr. Earl M.
