Brown, Officiating Obituary GERALD LEE FORD entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at his home. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on October 10, 1939 to the late Wilbert Ford, Sr. and Alice Hopkins Ford. Gerald was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia at a young age. Gerald was always a hardworking man and provided for those that he loved. One of his first jobs was at Cohen Store. Gerald’s life journey led him to California where he spent many years. He eventually returned home to Richmond, Virginia to be close to his family and encounter the love of his life. Gerald has always been able to find his way around a kitchen. His talent for the culinary arts were utilized at the William Byrd Hotel, Raleigh Hotel and the Virginia Inn before retirement. Gerald entered into a holy union with Josephine Weaver Ford on September 18, 2010. Their love and companionship has been constant for many years. They enjoyed their daily trips around Richmond and you would find them most afternoons taking it easy while watching TV. Gerald is survived by his wife, Josephine Weaver Ford; two sisters, Mildred F. Barksdale (Walter) and Doris F. Matthews; three sisters-in-law, Alma Ford, Barbara Ford, and Vivian Ford; one brother-in-law, Gerald D. Smith (Gracie); and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
