Gregory Mario McKoy

Gregory Mario McKoy, 66, of Richmond, VA departed this life on November 20, 2021.  He had a passion for anything outdoors. He loved walking along the James River, taking boat rides and fishing in Virginia Beach, and planting in his garden.  After graduating from high school,   Greg attended culinary school, kicking off a 30 year career as an executive chef until he transitioned into retirement.  

Greg predeceased by his parents, Laverne and Esther, and his sister, Brenda Mitchell.  He is survived by his children, Syreeta Abrams, Shawn Abrams (son-in law), Gregory McKoy Jr., Alexis McKoy; three grandchildren, Kayla Marie Morris, Rodney Hounshell Jr. and McKenzie Marie McKoy; devoted friend Ellen Stewart (Tootie); a host of nieces and nephews and a devoted cousin Jerome.  His remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, Va., where a public viewing will take place on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 10a.m to 8p.m. and a small service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 11a.m to 12p.m. His ashes will be scattered at a spot that was meaningful to Greg for several reasons.
