Hattie Tea Bates

Departed this life January 4th, 2021. Ms Hephzibah “Hattie” Bates, age 71, of Richmond. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Alvin Bates Sr. and Irene Bates and one sister, Irene Charletta Bates. She is survived by nine sisters, Valery Bates(Michael), Faye Bates, Beatrice Bates, Beverly Monroe, Mary Jeffries(Yardi); Bernadette Bates, Barbara Bates and Brenda Bates; one brother, Alvin Bates Jr.; four  aunts, Josephine Lipscomb, Barbara McPhail, Maxine Jenkins and Carolyn Arrington; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; a brother- in- Charlie Dickens and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where Ms. Bates can be viewed Tuesday from 10AM to 8PM. Graveside services will be held Wednesday 11AM at Oakwood Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the cemetery 10:45AM Wednesday.
