Hattie Matilda Harrison Greene, departed this life July 25, 2020 at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her husband Yancey Greene. She was the only child of the late John E. And Lillian H. Harrison. She is survived by a loving family among them Maurio Henderson (Melodie), Darlene G. Scott (Robert Jr.), Denise G Coleman (Charles), Debra R. Greene, Marvin Spragley, Chamarea Jenkins and Chania Brown.
Having no siblings of her own, she is also survived by her first cousins: Sterling Henderson, Mable Patterson, Johnetta Harris, Florence Morgan, Jean Trimiew, Dorothy Mines, Grace Harrison, Melvin Jones, Doris McClure, and Evelyn Thomas who all made sure that Hattie was never amiss of a “sibling” bond. She referred to them all as sisters or brothers at one time or another. She leaves to carry out her legacy, a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Hattie gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a devout member of The Saint Paul’s Baptist Church attending until her health no longer allowed. She was a product of Richmond Public Schools having graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School. She retired at 30 years from Honeywell Industries as an Instructor but also worked as a hair stylist in her early years. Hattie loved life and had a smile that could light up a room. Her home was everyone’s home away from home. You could just ‘drop in’ and always be welcomed with open arms. She enjoyed being around her loved ones among them lifelong friends, Catherine Perry, Irma Jean Spratley, Peggy Ann Tiller, Moselle Perry, Gladys Miller and Juanita Scott. Hattie’s big heart and loving ways provided a sense of belonging and comfort to many throughout the years. She was in her own way a feisty earth angel.
