James Clinton Hawkins Jr.

James C. “Buzzy” Hawkins Jr., was born in Richmond, VA on January 27, 1929. He departed life this life Tuesday, July 23, 2024. He was preceded in death by his son, Juarez Donnell Hawkins and wife Josephine K. Hawkins.

James gave his life to the lord and was baptized at an early age. He was a long time member of Fifth Street Baptist in Richmond, VA. James grew up in the Newtown/ Jackson Ward area. He was educated in Richmond Public Schools. James spent his career as an Industrial worker. His most memorable place of employment was Nabisco Foods. 

 He enjoyed talking to people and loved to joke. He loved to speak about the history of Richmond, VA. James also enjoyed singing, he was part of a group that he and his brother Herman created called the “Fatherless 4 Quartet”. They traveled along the east coast singing. He also enjoyed sketching freestyle drawings and was the best dressed man we knew. He also was an active member of the Masons.

James leaves to cherish in his memory 5 children; Deborah H. Mallory(Otis), James C. Hawkins III (Florence), Ava Cromwell( Corey), Kim Hawkins-Tucker( Kenneth), Fay H. Lomax (Joe); Thirteen grandchildren; and host of great grandchildren. Three brothers, Herman Hawkins (The late Aretha Hawkins), Calvin Hawkins( The late Estelle Hawkins), and Richard Hawkins (Francis), and a host of nieces and nephews.
