Genevieve Thornton-Hobbs, 99 of Richmond, Virginia was born on March 1st, 1918 and departed this life at 5:01 am February 8, 2018.  Aunt Jennie attended Henrico County Public Schools and was a member of Pilgrim Journey Baptist Church.  She was united in marriage to Paul Hobbs, Sr. of which two sons were born, Paul and Clarence.  After an extended illness, Aunt Jennie came to live with her brother and his wife (Martha and Elijah).  She lived with them over forty years.  As time continued the family dynamics of the original family changed (Elijah and Martha were deceased), the baton was passed to her nieces, Sonia and Carlease, where they became her primary caregivers for Aunt Jennie until her death.  At the time of her death she attended Holy Light New Deliverance Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Pauline Stokes.She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Hobbs, son Clarence Carraway and nine siblings of the Thornton family, of which she was the last surviving member.  She is survived by son, Paul Carraway, Sr., two dauthers-in-law: Helen Carraway and Maime Carraway; ten grandchildren: Michelle C. Peterson, Clarence Caraway, Jr., Traic C. Miles, Travis Carraway, Eric Carraway, Albert Carraway, Clarence Carraway, Jr., Bryan Carraway, Michael Carraway and Randy Carraway; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-children; and a host of nieces and nephews, among them Elijah (Sandra) Thornton, Jr., Juel (Isiah) Seal, Jr., and two devoted nieces, Sonia and Carlease Thornton; other relatives and friends, and two devoted helpers Paula Powell and Loretta Jenkins.
