Mary S. Powell

Departed this life April 29, 2019.  Mrs.  Mary S.  Powell, age 76, of Richmond.  She is preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Powell.  She is survived by five daughters, Veronica Brown(Earl), Mary Bailey, Bernice McGee, Brenda David(Kenwyn) and Monica Powell; one son, Thomas Bailey;  sixteen grandchildren;  25 great-grandchildren;  six great-great grandchildren;  two brothers, George Washington Simms and Preston Simms;  a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters and brothers- in law and other relatives and friends.  Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr.  Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30PM Friday.  Funeral services will be Saturday 2PM at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W.  Cary Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time.  Dr.  Ricardo Brown(pastor) off.  Interment private.  Family and friends assemble at the church 1:45PM Saturday.
