Mary Smith

November 4, 1918 — June 6, 2024

Richmond

Deacon Mary E. Smith, the oldest of twelve siblings, was born November 4, 1918, in the Navy Hill section of Richmond to the late William and Lucy Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter Dorothy Smith and all but one sibling.

She loved our Savior and was baptized at Fifth Street Baptist Church under Dr. C.C. Scott. Even as a youngster, she enjoyed attending church. Aunt Mary served as a Deacon and deaconess and was a member of Sunday School and Tuesday Bible Study.

She was educated in the Richmond Public School System.

Aunt Mary enjoyed walking, she loved to laugh and was an amazing cook. At Christmas after dinner, as the day settled, all nieces and nephews would line up to receive their gift box. Somehow, she made each and every one feel special.

Deacon Smith is survived by the youngest sibling, Aubrey L. Smith, Sr. and four generations of dedicated nieces and nephews.

Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Wake Services will be held on June 21, 2024, 6:30pm- 7:30pm.
