Thelma Burruss

Departed this life February 21, 2018. Mrs. Thelma J. Burruss, age 90, of Richmond. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Burruss; four sisters, Dorothy Moore, Lucille Reynolds, Adele Terry and Eva Bewley and two brothers, Lawrence Jackson and Leo Jackson. She is survived by her daughter, Muriel B. Gumbs; a host of nieces, among them Mary Hughes and Renee Douglas(Albert); nephews, among them James Moore(Carol); and other relatives and friends. She was member of the Richmond Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, a charter member of the Richmond Chapter of the Continentals, a member of the American Business Women’s Association, and the Astoria Wives. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7:30PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 12 noon at Sixth Baptist Church, 400 So. Addison Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr Yvonne Bibbs(pastor) off. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family, friends and organizations assemble at the church 11:45AM Wednesday.
