Warren E. Braxton, Sr., a devoted partner, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2024, leaving a profound legacy of love, service, and faith. A lifelong resident of Richmond, VA, Warren’s life was characterized by his unwavering commitment to his family, community, and faith in God.
Born on August 31, 1959, to the late Walker E. Braxton, Sr., and Hester E. Braxton, Warren was their cherished and only son, whose kindness, integrity, and hard work made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. A proud graduate of Armstrong High School, Warren went on to build a respected career in logistics, earning admiration for his dedication, thoughtfulness, and ethical approach to every task.
Warren was a loving and devoted partner to Dawn Wood, with whom he shared companionship and mutual love. Their home was a sanctuary of laughter, joy, and shared memories. As a brother to Jacquelin Richardson, Janet Woodson, and JoAnn Braxton, Warren was the steady rock of support, always offering a listening ear and a helping hand. As a father to Jeanelle Braxton Riddick (Paul Jr.) and Warren E. Braxton, Jr., he embodied the values of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. As a grandfather, or “Pop Pop,” to Paul Riddick, III (Trey), Warren’s heart swelled with pride for the next generation he so deeply adored.
Faith was the cornerstone of Warren’s life. An active member of Cedar Street Baptist Church of God, he lived his beliefs through acts of kindness, generosity, and service to others. His life was a reflection of his deep commitment to his community and his desire to help those in need. Whether through church activities, family gatherings, or lending a helping hand to a friend, Warren’s generosity knew no bounds.
Warren’s legacy of selflessness reached its highest expression through organ donation. His final act of generosity made with love and compassion will save lives and inspire others to follow his example. Through this gift, Warren has made an enduring impact, showing that even in death, we can touch lives and make the world a better place.
Warren is survived by his children, Jeanelle Braxton Riddick (Paul Jr.) and Warren E. Braxton, Jr.; one who was like a daughter to him, Zsavai Page; his grandson, Paul Riddick, III (Trey); his sisters, Jacquelin Richardson, Janet Woodson, and JoAnn Braxton; his niece, Brandy Braxton VanHorne (Victor); his nephews, Scott Richardson (Tiffany) and Tramaun Whitehead; his loving partner, Dawn Wood; and a host of extended family and friends. Warren’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of love, kindness, and service is a beacon of light that will continue to guide all who were blessed to know him. Rest in peace, honey, daddy, brother, Pop Pop, uncle, friend! Your light shines on.
