William Thornton

Departed this life June 8, 2019. William Thornton, age 77, of Richmond. He served in the Viet Nam War where he received a Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Thornton; one daughter, Cheryl Thornton; two sons, Stevie(Loni) and Mario Thornton; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two brothers, Clarence and Charles(Martha) Thornton; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; three sisters- in- law, Bessie Ashley, Hannah Redd(William) and Lillie Mae Hines; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 7:30PM. Funeral services will be Saturday 1PM at Riverview Baptist Church, 2604 Idlewood Avenue where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. Stephen Hewlett(pastor) off. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45PM Saturday.
