OVERTON, Yolandé Elizabeth, 62, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on May 24, 2024. She was born on January 30, 1962 in Richmond, Virginia, to Rosa Lee Towles. Yolandé preferred to be called Lane. She is survived by her life partner, Willie Blount, mother, Rosa Lee Towles, brother Vincent Wayne Overton, sister, Camelot Brienna Mayorga, brother-in-law, Washington “Eddy” Mayorga, favorite cousin, Kimberlyn Donette Towles, two great aunts and a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Lane attended Richmond Public Schools and grew up with a passion for tennis. She later pursued higher education at Commonwealth College. She dedicated her career to Zotec Partners. Lane found solace at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she worshipped.
Lane was known for her ability to bring order to any situation. Her colleagues and friends admired her for her reliability and the high standards she set for herself.
A lover of music, writing, and reading, Lane found joy in the arts. Her introspective nature allowed her to appreciate the deeper meanings in life, and she often shared her insights through beautifully written words. She cherished moments of quiet reflection as much as she valued the time spent with her loved ones and a good video game. She had a unique ability to offer thoughtful advice and a listening ear, making her a trusted confidante to many. Her presence was a comforting one, filled with warmth and genuine care.
Family was at the heart of Lane's world. She deeply cherished her relationships with her family members, always making time for her loved ones and creating lasting memories together.
As we remember Lane, we celebrate a life lived with passion, integrity, and love, and her loss leaves a void that will never be filled.
Lane, you will forever remain in our hearts. Your legacy of spirit, love, wisdom, and dedication will continue to light our paths.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on June 8, 2024, at Joseph Jenkins, Jr.l Funeral Home to honor Yolandé's life and legacy. Repast to follow.
